For over 70 years, Planet drop-down seals have ensured that threshold-free doors are sealed against the floor. It all started in a joinery in Zurich. Here, the world’s first drop down seals for doors were created and continuously developed. It did not take long to take effect, as the carpenters conquered a niche market with the Planet drop-down seals. Finally, the production of Planet drop down seals was outsourced and sold in 1998. Planet GDZ AG, based in Tagelswangen, Zurich, emerged from this change of ownership.

Planet GDZ AG has continuously developed new, special variants of drop-down seals, still produces them in Switzerland today and delivers them worldwide. With the comprehensive Planet finger protection range, newly launched in 2016, the company opened up a new market segment and thus opened another successful chapter in its company history. In 2018, Planet, the world’s leading manufacturer of drop-down seals and finger protection solutions was integrated into ASSA ABLOY has since formed one of the three cornerstones of the Swiss ASSA ABLOY subsidiary alongside KESO and MSL
